Senka Wea

The focus of Senka Wea is to preserve and share CTGR cultural heritage, whether it be land based, cultural history, language, animals, art, food, etc.

The specific research in this study seeks to understand two things: (1) The community driven research process (how we do research together?) and (2) How/what community members learn through engaging with the experiences we design together?

Ways To Participate

We invite and support a range of ways in which folks may be interested in participating in the Senka Wea Project. Depending on your interests, there are different levels of how you can participate. Here are a few we can think of:

Senka Wea Research

All Workshops & Events Include Invitations to Participate in Research

Senka Wea is a partnership between CTGR (Environmental & Education Departments) and Utah State University. This partnership includes research, which has been outlined in an MOU that was approved by CTGR Business Council May 2024. The research team is led by Dr. Breanne Litts at USU and the research has been approved by the USU IRB (Protocol #14348). You are not required to participate in research to participate in Senka Wea workshops & events. The consent forms below provide more details about the research study.

For this research study, most of your participation will include participating in Senka Wea workshops and events as you normally would, which could vary from single day events to multiday workshops depending on what you choose.

In addition, for each Senka Wea workshop or event, you may be invited to participate in an interview (45-60 mins) or focus group (60-90 mins). If you choose to participate in this additional work, you will receive a $25 Amazon gift card for your time.

Because you and/or your child(ren) are participating in a Senka Wea workshop/event, the team at USU would like to invite your child(ren) and your family to participate in this research study.
